Kitchen Fail

My silly attempt at cooking aglio e olio.
It failed because I substituted butter for olive oil.
But I still loved it because I am a butter addict,
it still tasted garlicky but I think
the large imported garlic bulbs are not as flavorful
as our small pungent indigent garlic bulbs.

Too much butter yeah.
I eat straight from the pan, so sue me. :(

Watsons HWB People's Choice Award 2011

I joined this promo at the last minute
and sent in my vote through facebook.
Luckily, I was picked as one of the 50 winners.
I am number 48 here.

I am really thankful !
The prize was a gift certificate worth P1,000
and I elected to claim my prize at SM Bacoor.
I had to present the printed copy of their
email notification plus a photocopy of my ID.

As usual Mama was nagging me to claim my prize already.
I intended to write a list of what things I should get
so as to be more efficient.
I shopped for essential toiletries
that I would be needing when I work abroad.

There it is !
Dapat gift card at hindi certificate hehehehe.

I only had to pay for 25 cents.
I used my mobile phone's calculator
Yes sinulit ko siya hehehe.

The Dove bath gloves and massager I got for free
for buying a Dove product.

Thanks Watsons !

Feeling the Christmas Spirit

Oh oh!  Its almost September,
the anticipated (or dreaded) Ber months.
Decided to play some Xmas songs on my pc.

Christian Bautista has a really smooth voice,
he is a great and unique singer!
Got his Xmas cd for P25 at a Dunkin Donuts promo.

This album is a treasure.

My Weird Exam

I was an in-house clinical instructor
for a certain university for one semester.
I made my own exams for them.

So few got correct answers,
sanay kasi sila sa multiple choice format.
This one is more of a practical sequence of assessment exam.

Hopefully no malicious thoughts will be hatched,

My deranged cat.
'Are you sorry now kitty?
This is why you have to wear your clothes.''

Medical Exam Procedure

My medical/physical exam was held last May 31.
I paid P3,600 at the agency and was given a referral slip
with a map of the GAMCA (Gulf Cooperation Council
Accredited Medical Clinic Assoc) clinic at the back.

Sadly, I was not given a receipt for my payment,
I thought I was going to be given one at the clinic itself.
I should have known better...

Arrived at the Ruben Bartolome Medical Clinic
rather late around 10 or 11 am methinks.
It is located at Nakpil Street opposite
PWU (Philippine Women's University)
near a 7-11 branch.

You are to bring the referral slip and 2 pictures,
which you will submit to the front desk personnel
at the reception area at the ground floor.

You will be then given around 3 pages-worth of forms
to accomplish regarding your medical history,
some waivers for the AIDS test and the usual
personal profile details.

I forgot to add, that you should have starved yourself,
hahahaha edit that, you should have not taken
anything liquid nor solid for the past 10 - 12 hours.

To avoid temptation just clench your mouth tightly
by 12midnight, sleep, then travel to
the clinic for your tests.

Do not forget to take some snacks and sugary juices
to feast on after they take your blood for the FBS/CBC
(fasting blood sugar & complete blood count)
Also bring a pen, some pencils; wear clothing and shoes
that are easy to remove and comfortable to wear.

On your form is your number, remember that number,
you will be called by numbers during your queue and
not by surname, so do not forget it.

On the second floor fall inline and the staff would call you by
tens for your digital photo session prepare around P50
(yes, bring extra cash, clinics charge for everything)

They would then take your photo, (remove caps & glasses),
they would be printing those for filing in the GAMCA database.
You would have to queue again for the cashier,
those who have not paid at their agencies will have to pay here,
other wise they would tell you your good to go.

Reminder: Be patient as some of the staff are masungit
(because they have been doing the same routine for years)
so be on your toes and be aware of your surroundings.

Go upstairs to the third floor where there is absolute chaos,
if you already have your stool & urine specimen
pass it to the attendant at the lab window and sign their logbooks.
Otherwise buy their specimen bottle for P20 each I think
and do your business at the comfort room.

Pass your form to the staff and wait again to be called
for the blood extraction, remember to relax and if
you are afraid of the needle try pinching your ears
when you are poked with the syringe to divert the pain.

After having your blood extracted you could now snack
on your baon, yehey finally!  Hunger & thirst be gone!

Pass your paper to the window at the X-ray lab,
wait again, talk with your fellow applicants and mingle.
When your number is called proceed inside the X-ray lab,
remove your upper clothes and metal accessories,
wear the prescribed green tunic and have chest your x-ray taken,
remember to take your form.

Proceed to the 4th floor for your actual physical exam,
pass your paper to the nurse and wait for your number to be called.
Female clients will be handled by female doctors.
They will then take your height and weight,
which is inaccurate, they wrote on my form that I was a mere
5'6" when in fact I am  5'8", tsk tsk tsk.

The doctor would then interview you about your
past medical history plus the things you wrote on your form.
You would be then asked to go inside the cubicle
to loosen your upper clothing + unhook your bra
and remove your jeans but please keep your panties on!

The doctor would then palpate you for deformities or
abnormalities and ask you to lie down to conduct
with your hands behind your head for the breast exam.

Then you would be asked to face the wall pull down
your underwear, stoop down a bit and spread your
butt cheeks to check for hemorrhoids.
It is embarrassing, but remember they see all kinds
of private parts everyday, they are immune to it already,
although they might gossip about it hahahaha.
Ouch : (

Wait again to be called, your blood pressure will now be taken
and your eyesight will be tested through the use of the Snellen chart.
Bring your glasses, try to remember the grade of your lens.
I think some of the males were asked to undergo an ECG exam as well.

Take your form again and pass it to the dentist's room
also located on the same room.
I highly advise fellow applicants to have your teeth cleaned
and cavities filled before proceeding to a GAMCA medical exam.

Why? Because it will cost you more to have them taken
care of in-house. Most of the complaints emanate from this issue.
You will be then asked  to go inside the dentist's clinic by tens.

She will check your teeth by mere sight, if she sees something
that should be fixed she will write you a prescription ulk!
Which means you will have to fulfill that first
to pass the entire medical exam.

Afterwards take hold of your form again and go up
one floor, pass your papers to the nurse for the psych exam.
This was the longest wait -- around an hour or so,
when you are called inside better have your pencil ready.

You would be given instructions, so listen very well.
There would be parts wherein you could choose
to answer in English of Filipino, some parts you
would be asked to draw some figures.

Pass your test paper and your done, results will
be out in 3 days, if the clinic does not call, contact your agency.
Your medical results are good for 3 months only.

I finished at around 6 pm and went to the nearby 7-11
to buy some food and soda, then I rode a bus home.

The feeling of waiting for your medical results is
pretty much like waiting for your board exam results.
Excruciating!

Additionally, you can proceed to each exam process
anyway you can, what I mean is you can proceed to
your dental exam before your physical or start from the
fifth floor -- the psych exam and work your way down.

Though I highly suggest to do the blood tests first,
or risk hypoglycemia and faint en route to the other floors.

I found a blog post that is helpful in airing out the issues
surrounding GAMCA clinics and a pending memorandum against them.

Makeup Stash Trash

I rarely use makeup,
my stuff is garnering dust in a box.
I decided to throw the old thingies
and save or recycle the items I really want.

The long brown pencil case contains all my
eyeliners, around 10 of them, I use them in lieu
of eyeshadows because its a no-brainer
to apply, you do not need to have special skills
to use them, just don't poke your eyes!

The pink makeup kit, has my Loreal loose face powder,
which I replenished with a cheaper drug store brand
( I forgot which one sorry )
The gold tubes are mascaras, freebies courtesy of my mom,
as well as the multitude of lipgloss.

The little pots of No7 are my fave eyeshadows,
they are also freebies from my moms purchases.
The palette was a gift from my moms friend.
And when I received it via post, nakandadurog-durog
siya kaya I used alcohol to mend it, kaya
mukha siyang binaboy.

Sayang, ang ganda pa naman,
I tried to save most of it kaso
ayun ang sagwa, naubos pa yung
pinakapaborito kong black eyeshadow huhuhu.
Even the lipgloss section was covered in eyeshadow huhuhu.

A closer look at my lipglosses,
I commonly use the lip and cheek tint from Bodyshop,
a magazine freebie and in fairness maganda siya
at handy yet uber expensive pag binili.
Kaya thanks mama, sa freebies!

Some of my eyeshadow pots,
the one in the roller tube is my fave,
costs P20 at sa 7-11, mga 5 years na ito sa akin hehehehe.
Yes, may Etude glitters din ako,
mukhang sa 7-11 ko din ito nabili at sobrang luma na rin.

I dunno what the hell is happening at
patok na patok ang Korean makeup,
siguro nga dahil intended for Asian skin
kaso I have doubts with the
authenticity of products being sold online,
okay lang kung binili sa physical store e
kaso again mukhang made in China ulit yung iba
na naglipana online.

Aglio e Olio

Tasted this at Pizza Hut,
twas the cheapest pasta hehehe.

I am a pasta person,
but I eat my pasta with butter and seasonings only
when I cook at home.
I live and breathe butter...

This oil and garlic based pasta dish
tweaked my palate a bit so
I am going to try it sometime.

Saw the recipe online,
and this wonderful chef made it look so easy.
I have subscribed to his channel
and it is now 4:30 am here,
and I am still viewing his cooking videos.
Toink!

Western Union How-to

I received payment from a customer through Western Union services
I had to fill up this form and present a valid ID.
Instructions on how to receive money transfers
can be found here.
Answered all the checked fields.

This form is for sending money,
Good thing they had the DTI warning printed,
also had the number of NBI on it, very handy.
Instructions can also be found here.

You could even track your money transfers here.

After filling up the to-receive form, I had to wait a bit.
the teller was very masungit though,
I transacted with her dati and
she had this condescending tone when she spoke.

Anyhow, I received my money afterwards.
Their service is quick though their charges are quite expensive.
I think it is worth it if you want speed and security
in money transfers.

JRS Courier How-to

A customer ordered some pre-loved books from my
comic cat shop the other day.
After receiving the payment,
I went immediately to JRS to ship the items.

As it was my first time to use their services,
I collected leaflets from their counter.

Isa akong dakilang leaflet hoarder, I know.

This is the receipt.
The numbers printed in red plus the ones in blue
is the tracking number.

The process of shipping is simple. . .

Bring the items to the counter, they would probably weigh it
to determine the charges.
If you want to know how much they charge per weight,
see their rates here

They will give you the corresponding plastic packet
and you will have to write down your name & address
plus the name & address of the person you are shipping to.
They provide the permanent markers, so no worries.

Sign the receipt and pay for the charges.
Keep the receipt.

And you are done,
you can track the shipment through
their facebook site here,
(click on the extended info link).

Their rates are relatively cheaper and
they offer other services as well.
I think people shop online just
so they could have it delivered.

Is it not fun to receive something at your door?
People love being gifted even if its faux
because they actually gifted themselves hehehe.

The Emperor's New Clothes

Made some clothes for my cat.
Recycled my sock and an old blouse.

This is one unhappy cat pleading ...
"remove this tunic please,
it makes me look like a girl."

This sweater is from an old sock.
He gets filthy when he roams outside,
so this home-made pet sweater helps a bit.

Goodbye Little One!

Learned that one of the white kittens
that my cat fathered passed away.
From a litter of three,
we are down to one!
Go beat the odds little guy!

I do not know which one died.  :(

Fierce mama cat giving me the evil eye.

Sleepy Cat

Rain has had more than its fair share,
its been pouring non-stop.
And so the master and the cat
have been bonding inside the house for days.
Wanted to cut his nails but he was so sleepy....
'Do not bother me human.'
'Go away, shoo!'

Organizing my Medicine Kit

Yes, I am a hoarder.
I collect junk.
Even if I need only one item.

I tend to buy two just for
the what-if scenarios.
Like what if there was a zombie apocalypse
and I had diarrhea and there was only 1 tablet left.

Stuff like that drive me crazy,
or maybe because I am crazy hahahaha.
Anyhow, I decided to organize my
medicine kit at home and in my bag.

This is my stash.

Organized my plasters into a handy container,
dating pantyliner container hehehehe.
Yung iba nilagay ko sa maliit na ziplock,
para sa bag.

Voila! Organized na !

My medicine kit at home and sa bag.
Bought the blue one somewhere, nakalimutan ko kung saan,
and the little ethnic woven pouch was
a gift from my friend.

Yes, OC ako sa gamot dahil bihira ako lumabas ng bahay,
di naman siya nae-expire dahila nagagamit din kaagad.
Common over-the-counter meds lang like,
tablets for sipon, ubo, fever, pain, kabag, lbm, antihistamine,
a pill or two of antibiotics, so in case of emergency meron on-hand.
(may penicillin allergy ako)

The pink pouch with the dog was sewn by my mom,
I put the plasters and the emergency meds inside,
along with some feminine sanitary products,
pop it into my bag and I am good to go.

Patrick Star

Decided to wash my Patrick Star collection,
some of them are bad copies,
as in binili lang sa tiangge.
I have big ones but they all look like factory rejects hehehe.
The original Patrick Star plushie at SM costs around P1000+,
too expensive, so I am settling for little trinkets.

The one at the bottom, the faceless Patrick was the most expensive,
and apparently was very marupok!
Hala! Nilabhan lang, nabura na ang mukha. Tsk.
